IMAP or POP3?

When setting up your Email software, one of the first decisions you’ll need to make is whether to choose “POP3” or “IMAP”.

IMAP is probably the one you want. One of the big benefits of using IMAP is that it allows you to synchronize your Emails (received and sent) between different devices like your laptop and smartphone. One downside of IMAP is that because it keeps a copy of ALL email (unless you delete some) the amount of web hosting space it takes up will continue to grow and that can mean extra hosting fees down the road.

POP3 simply downloads your Email to your Email program and then deletes it (though it is possible to keep a copy on the server for a while).

Standard Email Settings

Here are the technical settings you need for both POP3 and IMAP. These settings will give you a secure, encrypted sending and receiving of Emails.

IMAP

User Account: your full email address

Password: as provided

Incoming Settings

server: piggybankwebhosting.com

Port: 993

Use SSL: YES

Outgoing Settings

server: piggybankwebhosting.com

Port: 465

Use SSL: YES

POP3

User Account: your full email address

Password: as provided

Incoming Settings

Server: piggybankwebhosting.com

Port: 995

Use SSL: YES

Outgoing Settings

Server: piggybankwebhosting.com

Port: 465

Use SSL: YES

IMPORTANT: For IMAP & POP3, you must set your outgoing server use authentication, meaning that it has to log in to send emails. If you miss this step our security system may well think you’re trying to “hack” into your email account and temporarily ban your access.

Accessing Webmail

If you want to simply check your Email from any web browser, you can do so easily by going to: www.yourdomain.com/webmail and login with your Email address and password. There are two webmail programs to choose from…the most popular one is “Round Cube”.
